Caroline Carney
I am an oil painter working between Provincetown and Los Angeles, drawn to the exceptional light and unique landscapes of these areas. Though I have traveled and lived in many places, an abiding love for the landscape and architecture of the outer cape pervades my spirit and work.
My oil painting practice has grown out of life-long habits of drawing, journaling in watercolor, and mailing painted postcards to family and friends. I view my paintings as open missives, communicating feelings of affection for place, presence, and memory.
My work often juxtaposes organic elements (flowers, fish, branches) with the built environment (fences, trays, buildings). These focuses emerged from life in Provincetown, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis as a cyclist and pedestrian – observing, experiencing, and photographing intersections of the built environment with forces of sunlight, plants, weather, and water. Travels and studies throughout coastal New England, the American Southwest, and Southern California continue to inspire and shape my painting practice. I paint outdoors as well as in a studio.

Lisa Farnsworth
I am a landscape painter. I live and paint in Truro, MA.
I first came to the outer Cape when I was three. I moved here in 2016 to paint the landscapes I love. My work focuses largely on marshes and houses. I often use photographs as a starting point, a reference. From there I play with the image. I move things around. I add to or alter elements in the picture. In the end the painting depicts a place that falls in the realm between reality and imagination.
I’m captivated by all the changes that take place in the marshes during the cycle of the tide. The relationships between the water, the light and the land are the inspiration for many of my paintings.
I paint houses as a means of capturing a moment whether it’s loneliness, melancholy, or the quiet before and after a storm. I also use houses as a vehicle for the old souls that one can often sense in quieter moments here in Truro.
I’m a lucky person. I love what I do in the place that I love. My heart is here.
