The work of Provincetown artist Paul Hastings will be on display at Gallery 444 from October 9th to the 12th (444 Commercial St., Provincetown).

Working on locations in and around town, Hastings applies the principles of plein air painting to capture scenes that evoke the essence of Provincetown. These often include quiet overlooked spots or iconic buildings set against the unique light of our sea and sky.

“Painting outdoors is not for everyone” says Hastings. “The elements can be challenging, and the conditions are not always ideal, but it forces me to think in a particular way; to focus on the spirit of the scene and capture it quickly before the light changes.”
